The Agency provides expertise in all forms of business and personal insurance for a broad range of industries and occupations, for both domestic and international exposures. For business lines, the Agency offers Property, General Liability, Automobile, Umbrella, Workers' Compensation Insurance coverages for Manufacturers, Wholesalers, Retailers, Contractors, Large Property and Habitational Risks, Professional Errors and Omissions Insurance, and Group Benefits Plans such as Group Health, Life, Disability and Retirement Plans. For personal lines, standard markets are offered for Automobile, Homeowners, Tenants, Umbrella, Long Term Care, and Disability/Life Insurance Policies. Also available are non-standard markets for PAIP, CAIP and the NJ Workers' Compensation Insurance Plan.

The Agency was founded in 1933 by Charles F. Hahn, and his office was located in downtown Newark, New Jersey. Charles F. Hahn started in business by selling insurance to protect homes and small businesses from the perils of fire and burglary. Despite the difficult economic times, the business began to prosper. Mr. Hahn later became involved in planning and development issues in the City of Clifton. This involvement initiated a long and dedicated commitment on his part to many public and private institutions in the Clifton area.

In 1953, the business formed a corporation, Charles F. Hahn, Inc. A few years later, the Agency relocated to Clifton, and Mr. Hahn's son, Gordon M. Hahn, who had recently graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served in the U.S. Army in Germany, joined as Vice President. Gordon M. Hahn succeeded his father as President in 1963, and continued and enhanced the Agency's reputation for professionalism and service to other parts of the state.

In the 1970's and 1980's, the Agency grew into one of the largest Personal Lines Agents for Royal Insurance in New Jersey. During this time, Mr. Hahn developed expertise in personal automobile insurance and commercial insurance matters relating to public municipalities. In the mid-1980's, the Agency became one of the first in New Jersey to use computer technology in its operations.

In the mid-1980's, the Agency recognized the need to develop a broader range of products and services to position itself for doing business in an increasingly competitive marketplace, and it began to develop business relationships with additional insurance companies. Charles R. Hahn, the founder's grandson, joined the Agency as Vice President in 1993, and continued this expansion. The Agency was successful gaining appointments with a significant number of financially sound insurance carriers, that offer a diverse range of competitive products for personal and commercial insurance needs. The Agency relocated within Clifton in 1996 to a state-of-the-art office facility, and since then has implemented the latest internet technologies and capabilities to enhance customer service so that we remain competitive well into the 21st Century.

As an independent agent, the Agency places and services business and personallines policies directly for several major Property and Casualty Insurance carriers, and also has the ability to sell policies offered by over 100 carriers. The Agency holds a Property and Casualty Insurance license in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and other states; and a Life and Health Insurance license in New Jersey and New York.

The Agency represents major insurance companies who offer coverages for "Main Street" businesses as well as companies with national and international locations and exposures. The Agency has the ability to handle international policies for coverages that apply outside the U.S., through Chubb Group of Insurance Companies.

The Agency was one of the first in NJ to use computer technology. Currently, the Agency's computer network has real-time access to our insurance companies' computer systems for Client Services, Billing and Claims, which allows us to quickly and accurately process policy transactions, in a secured ASP (Application Service Provider) environment that utilizes daily database backups, redundancy and emergency restoration plans.

The Agency is staffed by experienced New Jersey Licensed Producers, with an average number of years of industry experience that exceeds 10 years.

B.S. degree in Physics from Tufts University, magna cum laude, 1979; previously employed as a Mechanical Engineer for Stone & Webster Engineering Corp., an Architect & Engineering firm in Boston, MA, performing analyses and testing of safety-related equipment for nuclear power plants, until 1985; held position of Quality Control Manager for BASF, a manufacturer of magnetic tape and tape products for audio, video and computer applications in Bedford, MA, until 1989; held several key management positions in Production, Quality Control, Sales & Marketing as part of a six person team that formed a new manufacturing company, GIGATEK Memory Systems in Carlsbad, CA, including design and implementation of high-technology manufacturing and testing processes to produce newly designed, advanced data storage products for the computer industry, from its inception until it was sold in 1993; became Vice President of Charles F. Hahn, Inc. in 1993; earned designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) in 2000; over 12 years of insurance industry experience. Mr. Hahn earned the title of President of the agency in 2008.
