Long Term Care Insurance

A Great Way to Pay the High Costs of Nursing Home and Home Health Care Services

Many people are becoming increasingly familiar with the high costs of caring for the elderly or infirm who need the services of a nursing home, assisted living facilities or home health care. However, not everyone knows about how a LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE POLICY can help pay for these services, so that family assets accumulated over years are protected and the financial independence of you and your loved ones is maintained.

The need for Long Term Care Insurance can be seen from a quick review of some current statistics. First, the average annual cost in the New York Metropolitan area for a one year stay in a nursing home runs approximately $50,000; and the cost of home health care can be even greater. Second, federal government programs such as Medicare cover only a small fraction of these costs. These programs may provide even less assistance in the future as the pressure to cut government spending continues. To be covered by Medicaid, you may risk losing significant personal assets. Individual or family assets today contribute to 51% of the costs of Long Term Care services. And, 1 out of every 2 Americans will need Long Term Care at some point in their lives!

Therefore, it may be well worthwhile as part of your financial planning to purchase a Long Term Care Insurance Policy for you or for your loved ones, such as parents, so that you are well prepared should the need arise. Furthermore, similar to the purchase of Life Insurance, the premiums for Long Term Care Insurance depend on the age and health of the insured, and so it pays to investigate this option sooner rather than later in life.

For more information in this very important policy, please contact our office today and we will be pleased to assist you in making the right choice!

Employment Practices Liability Insurance

For both small and large businesses, there is an increasing need to provide coverage for law suits arising out of issues relating to Employee Hiring and Firing, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination.

As the frequency and severity of such claims increases, it is important for all employers to understand that there is no coverage under the Commercial General Liability Policy for claims of this type. In order for a business to have coverage in case of such a claim, the employer needs to carry EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES LIABILITY INSURANCE.

Most insurance carriers who offer this valuable protection have recently reduced the premium for the coverage and offer various limits of liability from $100,000 to $1,000,000. Depending on the limit of coverage selected, defense costs may or may not be included within the limit of liability.

There are significant differences in coverage between the policies available in today's insurance market, and therefore it is important to have a professional insurance agent with expertise in the different coverage forms provide your business with a policy which best fits your needs. All commercial lines producers at Charles F. Hahn, Inc. are thoroughly familiar with the most recent coverage forms available to protect your business.

It is important to realize that even an employer who puts forth their best effort to minimize any exposures relating to these employment issues can be subject to average defense costs of $50,000 to $100,000 should an employee file a claim against you. Individuals are increasingly using legal means to be compensated for what they consider to be unfair employment practices relating to being hired or fired, sexually harassed and discriminated against by the employer, fellow employee, or even an outside vendor or independent contractor working on behalf of the company.

If you are interested in this important protection for you and your business, please contact us today.
