History

The Agency was founded in 1933 by Charles F. Hahn, and his office was located in downtown Newark, New Jersey. Charles F. Hahn started in business by selling insurance to protect homes and small businesses from the perils of fire and burglary. Despite the difficult economic times, the business began to prosper. Mr. Hahn later became involved in planning and development issues in the City of Clifton. This involvement initiated a long and dedicated commitment on his part to many public and private institutions in the Clifton area.

In 1953, the business formed a corporation, Charles F. Hahn, Inc. A few years later, the Agency relocated to Clifton, and Mr. Hahn’s son, Gordon M. Hahn, who had recently graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served in the U.S. Army in Germany, joined as Vice President. Gordon M. Hahn succeeded his father as President in 1963, and continued and enhanced the Agency’s reputation for professionalism and service to other parts of the state.

In the 1970′s and 1980′s, the Agency grew into one of the largest Personal Lines Agents for Royal Insurance in New Jersey. During this time, Mr. Hahn developed expertise in personal automobile insurance and commercial insurance matters relating to public municipalities. In the mid-1980′s, the Agency became one of the first in New Jersey to use computer technology in its operations.

In the mid-1980′s, the Agency recognized the need to develop a broader range of products and services to position itself for doing business in an increasingly competitive marketplace, and it began to develop business relationships with additional insurance companies. Charles R. Hahn, the founder’s grandson, joined the Agency as Vice President in 1993, and continued this expansion. The Agency was successful gaining appointments with a significant number of financially sound insurance carriers, that offer a diverse range of competitive products for personal and commercial insurance needs.

The agency is presently located in Little Falls, NJ. The agency utilizes advanced technologies to enhance its customer service capabilities, and invests in continuous staff training for the latest information about the industry.
